7 Fun Ways to Throw a Fantastic Office Party This Yuletide Season

Dec 9, 2021

The air is crisp and the snowflakes are falling.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year again!

Can you feel it in the air?

Christmas will be here before we know it.
And what better way to get in the spirit than with a festive office party?

A Christmas party is one of those special gatherings everyone looks forward to — and yes, including your trusted business team!

And it’s easily what everyone misses most about working in-person, ever since the pandemic hit and all group activities have to come to a halt.

Thankfully, everything’s slowly getting back to normal now.

If you’re hosting an office Christmas party to reward your hardworking peeps this year,
I hope these tips will help you plan a fantastic office party that your employees will love.

These ideas will make your holiday bash one they’ll never forget, from food to entertainment to decorations.

Whether you’re looking for some new ideas or want to see how others have celebrated, this blog post has got your back!

Here are the seven fun ways to throw a fantastic office party this Yuletide season!

My favorite is the last one.

Let’s get into it!

1. Put Up A Photo Booth

Photo booths can be a lot of fun at parties. They’re usually pretty easy to set up, so you don’t need any special equipment. You just need to find a place where people can pose for pictures.

It allows the attendees to loosen up with their quirky or wild poses using props, and to capture memories that will last a lifetime.

Props can be silly hats, stuffed animals, or even DIY paper cutouts. But if you don’t want to work too hard, balloons will be your absolute best friend. Just find a color palette that matches the theme and use a balloon display as your backdrop.!

As for your photo booth backdrop, you can set up a glittered background, or you can go all out with stunning balloon decors.

2. Host a Gift Exchange With A Twist

Ditch the traditional Secret Santa gift exchange!

Try playing musical chairs where participants sit in chairs in a circle while passing the gifts around as the music plays. Once the music stops, the gift each person is holding will become theirs. This can be fun and hilarious as everyone cheers and hopes to get the gift they think they want.

You can also play a guessing game. Before the party starts, the game host should give instructions to every giver to write fun facts about themselves on a post-it note. The post-it should have a number assigned. The actual gift should also be numbered according to the number of the giver as indicated on the post-it note.

The game will start with the host reading the fun facts written on the note. Whoever guesses it correctly will have the honor of bringing home the gift that corresponds to the number in the post-it note. The game continues until everybody receives their gifts.

This idea works well if you’re having guests over who aren’t familiar with each other. It also makes a great alternative to a Secret Santa gift exchange.

3. Give Out Door Prizes

Door prizes are always a hit at parties. Not only do they provide instant gratification, but they encourage everyone to come inside and socialize.

And what better way to give door prizes than through games?.

You can play the “Bring Me” game where you ask the crowd to bring you a given object, such as a red belt, a 100 dollar bill with a serial number ending in 55, or anything you like. Whoever gets the thing to you first will win a door prize.

You can also play a trivia game about your company. The one who can give the correct answer first will win a prize.

Or if you want a more exciting one, you can give the door prizes through a raffle. List the names of all attendees on slips of paper and randomly draw names throughout the event.

4. Spoil Them With Unique Party Games

You can play a variety of different games at a party. For example, you could play “Name That Tune” or “Guess Who.”

Or you could try something more interactive like “Pin the Tail on the Donkey” or “Pass the Parcel.”

You can also try group games like the caterpillar game. You’ll be needing some balloons for this game. Divide the group into three teams. Each group should be able to walk to the finish line together.

The twist is that each team has to put a balloon in between two team members to become connected. Say you have five members for each team. There has to be a balloon between persons 1 and 2, another balloon between persons 2 and 3, and so on. This could be shoulder-to-shoulder, front-to-back, or however, they like.

The team should be able to walk together to the finish line without dropping any of the balloons. The first team to reach the finish line wins.

These games are perfect because they require no prior knowledge, and they’ll keep your guests entertained throughout the evening.

5. Hire An Entertainer

A DJ or band can add extra flair to your office party. You can hire someone from a local music store or even a professional musician to jazz up the party.

You can even go magical by hiring a professional sleight-of-hand magician, an illusionist, or even a magician who can do comedy magic.

This kind of entertainment can also build more excitement and anticipation for the event.

6. Serve A Crowd Their Favorite Holiday Dishes

Holiday recipes are always a big hit at parties.

Come on. It has been a year of hard work, so everyone deserves some sumptuous meals, right?

Whether you’re serving traditional favorites like turkey and stuffing or something a bit healthier like kale salad, there’s bound to be something everyone loves.

You can even ask for everyone’s opinion about it. Ask the employees what they like to eat during the Christmas party and tally their answers.

Serve the dishes that are most famous in the mini-survey you did – without breaking the office budget, of course.

7. Choose A Fun Party Theme And Fill Your Venue With Balloons

The best part about throwing a party is getting together with people dear to you, including your officemates, with whom you spend most of your day.

So, why not have a Christmas party theme to make the night even more memorable?

For instance, you could go all-out with a winter wonderland theme. Or you could opt for a Great Gatsby-themed party – or really anything!

Whatever you decide, make sure to decorate your space accordingly.

For that, you can’t go wrong with balloon decors.

Balloons come in different shapes, colors, and sizes and can be twisted into various forms. They can make your themed party more on point and give your venue a more lively atmosphere.

And the best thing? You only need to relay your dream balloon setup to your balloon decorator, and they will have your orders ready and delivered to your venue. So, you can skip the hassle!
